This is one of the great Irish golf courses and deserves every inch of the respect and adulation that regularly comes its way. It is an attractive undulating parkland course that was designed by the great James Braid, winner of no less than five Open championships and the first to do so.
The original nine hole course was laid out by Willie Park, another Open championship, but Braid completely remodelled the course in 1934. Waterford is renowned for the quality of its greens and for its friendly atmosphere in the clubhouse.
The first nine demands great accuracy from the tee while the back nine is more forgiving.
