Roscrea Golf Club is situated on the N7 Dublin-Limerick road. Golf here has been traced back to the early 1980s, though the present course was laid down in 1911. It was extended to 18 holes just over a decade ago and the parkland course is a treat to play.
The par-3s in particular are superb, with the sixth hole being the favourite of many who have visited the course over the years. It measures 180 yards and you have to hit over water to find the green.
The fifth is another cracker, the fairways of this 515-yard par-4 being lined with trees on both sides with an out of bounds fence on the left.
