Founded in 1924, Macroom is a splendid 5, 574-yard offering situated within the grounds of the castle adjacent to the town of Macroom. With the Kerry Mountains creating a backdrop to the west, this is a particularly scenic course located on undulating ground.
Well-placed bunkers and mature trees form a varied and testing challenge. The 12th is a feature hole with an intimidating 50-yard carry over the river to the green. The course runs alongside the River Sullane, which comes into play on four holes. The 18th, with out-of-bounds on either side, is a testing closing hole but a good drive can set you up with a birdie chance. GREEN FEE KEY: €1-€15=€ €16-€30 = €€ €31-€50 = €€€ €50+ =€€€€ |
