Cork golf club is widely regarded as being one of the finest inland courses in the whole of Ireland. Dr. Alister Mackenzie was handed the task of re-designing the Cork course in the 1920s and he did a splendid job. The course has staged a whole host of tournaments over the years, both amateur and professional, and it\'s no surprise that Cork is near the top of many a list when people visit this delightful part of the Emerald Isle. It measures 6695 yards and plays to a par of 72, the course record, which is shared by Des Smyth and Tom Cleary, being 67. One of the best holes on the course is the sixth, a 330-yard par-4 where the green is surrounded by quarry walls.
