Designed by the 1995 European Ryder Cup star and proud Irishman, Philip Walton, St Helen's Bay takes full advantage of the onshore winds and gently sloping rural land. Commenting on his course, he said: "This 18 hole championship course will provide enormous pleasure to all who play it, leaving all who experience St Helens a lasting impression."
It is largely a links course with a decidedly parkland flavour. The layout gives variety to each hole and makes the most of the prevailing southwesterly wind, while the water features and some 5,000 trees are employed to strategic effect. The 15th, measuring over 600 yards from the back tees, is one of the longest holes in Ireland. GREEN FEE KEY: £1-£15=£ £16-£30 = ££ £31-£50 = £££ £50+ =££££ |
