Carlow has been described as a natural inland links and has had the honour of hosting many important tournaments over the years. Most recently in 1999, the club's Centenary year, Carlow was privileged to host the Irish Ladies Close Championships and the All Ireland Inter County Championships.
There are many long par four and the 16th is a prime example where two shots have to be played through a tunnel-like valley.
It was chosen by Christy O'Connor Snr as one of the finest closing holes in Irish golf.
