From small beginnings over a century ago, Tullamore has emerged as one of the most popular parkland courses in the country. James Braid was commissioned in 1938 to redesign the course to meet the competitive standards of that time.
The course remained unchanged until Patrick Merrigan, an admirer of Braid, was retained to upgrade the layout to modern standards. Work on a major modification included the creation of three lakes, seven new greens and eleven new tees. All work was completed by autumn 1995.
